This is one example.Save Me Lyrics – Jelly Roll. There's certain songs that are in D Harmonic Minor but Melodyne always detects D Minor. I understand why that is, on single played instruments like solo guitar and piano, the tones are not as overwhelming, it's when you combine bass, keyboards (synths) and especially drums which are non-tuned instruments, this is when the developer of any software has to stay within the majority of something (Major/Minor) to get a close accurate assumption.Īgain, to reference a chord, you need a starting point since the chords are constructed from a chord formula and it's starting point is a scale. While there is software that can "suggest", it's far from accurate. Notice that it tends to stay within the Major/Minor chord progression. This was what I was pointing out about Melodyne. Perhaps this could be enlightening about what Melodyne could actually do in that domain. I believe that major and minor refers to modes which differs from scales concept, although both being related. Then look to see what Logic thinks the chord is. If the OP didn't create the WAVs, I would suggest play a software instrument and play along with the WAV file until you find a matching sound, then go into the Piano Roll and select the notes you think sound good. It'll stick with Major or Minor and in a single key. Play 2 chords from 2 exotic scales then run it thru Melodyne, Melodyne will not be able to generate which exact exotic chords from 2 different scales in different keys. Melodyne on it's output stays within Major and Minor progressions so the chords it generates tend to stay within those 2 scales.
